MAKING APPLICATIONS FOR COURT ORDERS

During the course of proceedings, and even before proceedings are begun, there are many instances when a party may wish to apply for a court order, over and above the usual directions made for the management of the progress of the case from commencement to trial. For instance, an application may be made for an interim remedy such as an interim payment,1 or it may be made for final relief such as judgment in default2 or summary judgment.3
