ABSTRACT

If the first party agrees, the next step is to contact the second party with an appointment. Unlike stage one, the contact is with someone who may not wish to be involved in mediation and may not perceive that there is any problem. The process may, therefore, stop at this point and the initiating party will be informed that the service is unable to proceed. This is usually the end of the service’s involvement, although sometimes further visits may be made to talk through the first party’s options.
