ABSTRACT
From a review of such cases it appears that problems usually arise for three reasons. (a) The seriousness of the patient’s head injury has not been appreciated and
the patient has been inappropriately discharged instead of having been admitted for observation and treatment; eg insufficient attention has been paid to the severity of the blow received or to the fact that there was persistent vomiting and/or complaints of severe headache.
