ABSTRACT

The Tobacco Product Code (Code voor Tabaksprodukten) applies to advertisements for tobacco products. It contains several specific provisions relating to health, minors, sports sponsorship and non-users of tobacco products. For instance, an advertisement may in no way whatsoever propagate a link between the consumption of tobacco products and human health. It should also include the message: ‘Smoking may seriously damage your health.’ Moreover, the advertisements may not be aimed at influencing minors, nor may they relate to or establish a link with sports.
