ABSTRACT

A comprehensive general regulatory framework for advertising has been in existence in Belgium since 1971 by way of the Act on Fair Trade Practices (TPA). That Act has been replaced by the Fair Trade Practices and Consumer Information and Protection Act of 14 July 1991. The TPA was published in the State Gazette on 29 August 1991 and contains 124 articles. Prior to the 1991 TPA, the 1971 TPA was the principal source of advertising law in Belgium.
