Alternative verdicts 6. We recommend that both of the new homicide offences should be available
as alternative verdicts to murder. 7. We recommend that the long established practice, that where there is a
possibility on a count of murder of the jury returning a verdict of manslaughter, a separate count of manslaughter is not added to the indictment, be abandoned.
