ABSTRACT
The diagnosis of pregnancy is based firstly on a period of amenorrhoea. Egg release will occur two weeks before the next period (which, with a 28 day cycle, is two weeks after the last, but this varies with cycle length) and conception can occur within four or five days of this point, and can even occur from sperm surviving from intercourse in the week prior to egg release.
