ABSTRACT
The point at which the GP should realise that the information fed to him is doubtful is difficult to determine, and this is of relevance to lawyers where a hospital or specialist misdiagnosis communicated to the GP has led to substandard management by the GP – whose defence will often hinge on the assumption that a report sent to him can be taken as accurate.
