ABSTRACT
One way to obtain a picture of how the patient is at more than a spot time in the surgery is to give them a peak flow meter and ask them to monitor their peak flow at home twice daily (first thing in the morning and last thing at night) for two or three weeks to observe the variability. A variability of 20% is diagnostic of asthma.
