ABSTRACT

Although it is possible to be comprehensive by excluding the spread to the brain by performing a CT or MRI scan of the brain and a radio isotope bone scan, it is not conventional, in the majority of departments, to do these routinely on all patients unless, in the first instance, there are neurological symptoms and signs and, in the second, there is bone pain. Otherwise, the yield in both of these cases is very low (around 3%).
