ABSTRACT

Patent law is the creature of statute. Prior to the foundation of the Irish State, UK statutes applied. Since the foundation of the Irish State, three Acts dealing with patents have been enacted. First, the Industrial and Commercial Property (Protection) Act 1927; secondly the Patents Act 1964, which repealed the patent provisions of the 1927 Act; and, finally, the Patents Act 1992 (PA92) which repealed the 1964 Act.
