ABSTRACT

Restorative justice is a ripe subject for the science of sanction effects (Sherman 1993, 2000). While both theory and practice have grown at a rapid rate in recent years, the science of restorative justice (RJ) has lagged far behind. That is only natural, since science takes time, especially time to follow up on the long term effects of different kinds of justice. But it may also take time for science to discover the important questions about any subject, as well as some answers.
