Using the Connected Reporting Framework as a Driver of Change within EDF Energy

ByLinda Lewis, David Ferguson

EDF Energy is the UK wholly owned subsidiary of the French group EDF SA. It came into existence in 2003 following the acquisition, in the UK, of London Electricity, South Eastern Electricity and South Western Electricity, London, and Eastern Power Networks and a number of generation assets. More recently, following its acquisition by EDF, British Energy, primarily a generator of nuclear power, has been integrated within EDF Energy. EDF Energy is a vertically integrated energy utility in that it generates and distributes electricity and supplies both gas and electricity to residential and commercial customers. To give some indication of the scope of operations, EDF Energy has four interlinked business units of operations as well as a shared service centre and has around 20,000 employees. The four business units are Energy Sourcing and Customer Supply, Networks, Existing Nuclear and New Nuclear Build.
