ABSTRACT

The religion of Modern American Spiritualism points to this day in 1848 as its beginning. Spiritualism’s roots date from antiquity. Ancient Spiritualism prevailed in all countries and spirit communication was the basis of many ancient religious belief systems. Spiritualism is defined as the science, philosophy, and religion of continuous life, based upon the demonstrated fact of communication, by means of mediumship, with those who live in the spirit world. It has a goal of satisfying one’s logic, mind, and heart. Spiritualism gives a person the key that can be used to find the answers to life’s many and difficult questions. Spiritualism is a common-sense religion, accepts all truths and endeavors to prove the validity of those truths. Spiritualism has spread around the world. The International Spiritualist Federation lists liaisons in Australia, Austria and Hungary, Belgium, Canada, England, Finland, France, Iceland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States.
