ABSTRACT
High-resolution topographic images of a wide variety of material surfaces can be recorded with an atomic force microscope (AFM). These topographic images can be made with several modes of operation (contact mode A F M [1], non-contact mode A F M [2], and tapping mode A F M [3]).
