ABSTRACT

Environmental problems resulted to the set of two broadly accepted objectives: creation of environmentally friendly products and development of product recovery and waste management techniques [1]. Several significant factors induced the effort for the accomplishment of the objectives by companies and organizations: a) the increased demand of customers and non-governmental organizations for environmentally sound products, b) the development of environmental laws and directives and the increase of!andfill costs, and c) the challenge of competitive advantage. A number of approaches appeared; Design for Environment is among those that distinguish.
