ABSTRACT

The iris is the colored portion of the eye that lies between the pupil

and the sclera (the white part of the eye). The fibrous patterns

contained within the iris are randomly created and remain stable

throughout life from an early age. The patterns contained in a

person’s left and right eyes are distinct from each other, and also

distinct from any other person’s eyes. Since the iris is very unique

to an individual, it can serve to identify them with a high degree of

confidence.
