ABSTRACT

Nanomaterials based on natural sources such as plants and organoclay are the new types of materials possessing diversiied properties such as treatment of industrial efluent and other wastewater treatments. Polyaniline nanocomposites are used for the removal of sulfates. Perchlorates can be removed using grapheme-polypyrrole nanocomposites. Biodegradable nanocomposites have a great scope for various potential applications as high performance materials. At the end of life cycle, such materials are safely decomposed into carbon dioxide, water, and humus through microorganism activity. Nanocomposites not only act as effective sorbent for the removal of pollutants from wastewater but also act as an excellent support for

the gold nanoparticles to remove Co2+ through catalytic oxidation process. Water treatment through nanocomposites has proven to be superior to any other water treatment technology.
