ABSTRACT

Rheology, from the ancient greek ρ ω (rheo¯, “flow”)` –logy (“study of”), is the study of the flow of matter.

In general, rheology can be described as the study of materials’

deformation occurring over a certain period of time. Indeed, even

when amaterial is subject to a finite deformation, it may appear as if

it were flowing, as long as the observation time falls within the time

window of the process.
