Vladislav Krasnov's book comes at the right moment to give American readers help in understanding the momentous changes taking place in the Russian heartland of the Soviet Union. What do they portend? When Western eyes were fiXed by the media on the Gorbachev phenomenon and the perestroika slogan, Dr. Krasnov was drawing our attention instead to the rapid coming of the "future beyond Gorbachev."
