This study initially finished in 1943, is in response to an increasing interest in education generally and in the post-war development and layout of English rural life particularly. The author surveys the educational provision in the rural areas of England, looking at village schools, curriculum, in both primary and secondary schools, the training of teachers and conclusions on its post-war future.
