ABSTRACT

Based in Belgium, the Union of International Associations was founded in 1907 to assist the activities of non-profit, non-governmental and voluntary organizations throughout the world in both developed and developing countries. It is a clearing-house of information for over 40,000 international organizations and promotes research to improve the operations, effectiveness and efficiency of constituent organizations. Numerous publications and references are generated from the Union’s extensive database. Publications include: Transnational Associations, Yearbook of International Organizations and Encyclopedia of World Problems and Human Potential. The Union has consultative status with the United Nations (ECOSOC), UNESCO and the International Labour Organization (ILO).
