MAASS, CLARA LOUISE (1876-1901) U.S. nurse who died serving as an experimental subject for yellow fever. Born 28June 1876 in Beauville, N.J. Eight siblings. Educated German Hospital of Newark (R.N., 1898?). Professional experi­ ence: military hospitals in Florida, Cuba, Philippines; Las Animas Hospital, Havana, Cuba. Died 27 September 1901 in Havana of yellow fever.
