ABSTRACT

Many learners with ASC, anxiety and SEMH may quickly feel anxious or demotivated if they are repeatedly unable to finish a task in the time given. This can particularly be the case with starters and plenary activities. Make sure that you plan tasks carefully for the time given, and that there is a differentiated version where necessary for learners who will need this. Be clear at the start how long learners have to complete a task and use a timer or stopwatch on the board so that timings are clear and transparent.
