Sackville-West, Vita (1892–1962) Full name Victoria Mary Sackville-West, she was born at Knole Castle, Sevenoaks, England, into a socially prominent family. She established herself at the heart of literary circles with her poetry, fiction and plays, and married the politician Harold Nicholson in 1913, with whom she had a long-lasting, albeit unconventional, marriage.
