ABSTRACT
Gabriel Marcel was a dramatist-philosopher who composed approximately thirty plays, and an equal number of philosophic writings. Postmodernism finds some of its perspectives and themes anticipated in Marcel's thought on the unity of body-subject; his insistence on "incarnate being" as the approach to philosophic inquiry; his refutation of Cartesian dualism, as well as the abstract rationalism of Descartes and other Modern idealist philosophers.
