ABSTRACT
Is this the same kind of meaning as the meanings we have looked at so far (and which have all been the meanings of nouns, as you have probably noticed)? The aim of this unit is to show that it is almost the same, though there will be a slight extra complication (which has nothing to do with the fact that the meanings belong to verbs rather than to nouns). In particular we shall see that we can give danced a sense and a referent, which are related in the usual way; we can define the sense in terms of a classifier and some distinguishers; we can find it some hyponyms; and most importantly of all, we can give it an argument. This is where the extra complication arises.
