ABSTRACT
Erotic love as sociability is elaborated in everyday life through the practices of women in
the domestic sphere. The practices that constitute the reality of women’s domestic world
include: the recreation of community, homemaking, childraising and intimate friendship.
I stress here the aesthetic and rational nature of these practices. I equate aesthetic
rationality with female rationality and equate both of these with domestic rationality. I
