ABSTRACT

Organosulfur compounds are used as long-term heat stabilizers in plastics and elastomers, in synergistic combinations with phenolics (see Sec.V.A) (9,29,77). They may cause undesirable organoleptic problems, owing to volatile organic acids of sulfur and sulfur dioxide. This limits their use in odor-sensitive applications.

Another problem arises from deactivation of HAS by acid transformation products of thiosynergists (see Sec.V.E).
