The years 1871–1914 were a time of many changes and events affecting the New York Stock Exchange. Occurring during this time period were: the Panics of 1873, 1884, 1893, 1901, and 1907; the building of new headquarters for the NYSE which opened in 1903; investigations of the NYSE by the Hughes and Pujo Committees; and the 1914 Crisis which brought about the temporary closing of the NYSE.
