ABSTRACT

This chapter proposes the conjecture that culture generates, mainly from the artistic vertex, formulations of emotional experiences which enter into diverse forms of interaction with emotional experiences of different personalities and groups. It shows the use of the resource of films, tales, as models or in the manner of “dreams and myths” in the framework of the psychoanalytical scientific investigation. Films such as Odessey attempt to assimilate and digest the catastrophic changes that confront the human being with his possibilities and his helplessness, transforming into “images”, into “dreams”, the new discovered perspectives. The “science-fiction” in psychoanalysis implies the development of imaginative conjectures and of personification, which, through embodying the emotional experiences in a space of “dramatic fiction”, achieves the result that these experiences can be thought and housed in a space of psychic reality. The science of psychoanalysis deals with an animate object and aims towards understanding and giving meaning to the facts of emotional life.
