ABSTRACT
A review of the specimen sheet and other data in the original report [1] for the failures listed in Chapter 29 led to an alternative interpretation [2] summarized in Table 30.1. The specimen sheet for the 25 deep-groove ball bearings as originally portrayed listed 23 failures, as shown in Table 29.1, with 2 ball bearings omitted as nonfatigue failures. The reexamination concluded that there were 19 fatigue failures and 6 nonfatigue failures that should have been suspended/censored [2].
