3DTV is a Network of Excellence (NoE) funded by the European Commission Sixth Framework Information Society Technologies Program.* “e NoE on 3D television aimed at bringing together a multidisciplinary group of 21 leading European research centers that jointly work on the solution to the challenging technical problems. “e consortium, led by Bilkent University, worked for a 48-month period (2004-2008) on 3DTV. “e project partners have split their research e¤ort into seven major research work packages. “e goal is to align European researchers working in distinct, yet complementary, areas in order to integrate 3DTV research e¤orts in Europe. All technical building blocks of 3D television, including capture, transmission, and display, are in the technical scope of the project.
