ABSTRACT

Ever since the existence of greenhouses, the control of the indoor environment has attracted the attention of engineers and scientists. This has led to a large number of approaches and proposed solutions. Differences arise partly because of differences in greenhouse layout, target crops, and weather conditions on the spot and certainly also partly because of a particular view to climate control, skills, and technical opportunities. Hence, it is not easy to oversee the eld and judge the suitability of proposed solutions for any particular situation. Therefore, there is a need to put the various controller paradigms into a common framework, if possible. To provide such a framework is the purpose of this chapter.
