ABSTRACT

Research on interactive learning and the new technologies in first and second level education in Ireland is concerned almost exclusively with the educational role of computers. A limited number of research studies on media, other than computers, have been completed. For example, an evaluation of careers videos in secondary education was conducted during 1986 (Owens, 1986). In addition, studies on a variety of media are being undertaken by graduate students completing postgraduate degrees through research. For instance, a graduate student is conducting experimental research on the instructional effectiveness of dynamic graphics in instructional video programmes.
