ABSTRACT

New media and information technologies (NMIT) are gradually penetrating modern society. As a cultural phenomenon, they affect life in schools as well. The question arises: Do they have to be adopted into the didactic reality of everyday life? In this contribution it is contended that the answer will be 'yes'. There are, however, some conditions to be fulfilled:

Knowledge and skills with respect to NMIT should be trained. Teacher training should be aimed at the integration of NMIT in the curriculum. Instructional designers, computer specialists, audiovidual designers and other people involved inside and outside the schools should be trained with respect to their desired contribution. Clear roles in this respect have to be defined for each professional. 'Co-operation' is a second keyword next to 'training'.
