ABSTRACT
While the Giving Voice to Values methodology incorporates a post-decision method to create strategies for efficacious moral action, when faced in the future with a choice to act, the people should first consider whether the choice their make in fact allows the people to voice our values or whether the people are providing rationalizations for not voicing them. From the inter-professional perspective, because different professionals emphasize different aspects of care and use different jargon or ways of discussing patient care, the people will need to think about how to communicate with other members of the team. It also includes providing persuasive responses to the reasons or rationalizations that other professionals may have in response to our decision, as well as allowing for “give and take” so that others can voice their opinions or pertinent views in a process that allows for collaborative decision-making rather than asserting overt pressure.
