ABSTRACT

Low-clinker cements filled with industrial wastes have several positive features: low cost, less energy intensive production process, recycling of accumulated waste, and reduction of harmful emissions into the atmosphere. The mechanical properties of cement stone and concrete significantly depend not only on the chemical composition of hydrated cement, but also on the composition and structure of hydration products. An effective way to activate slag cement binders, while increasing pH, is the introduction of caustic alkalis. Peculiarities of the phase composition and microstructure of cement stone based on low clinker slag were studied using X-ray diffraction analysis and electron microscopy. Concrete on slag Portland cement are characterized by less resistance to frost than on conventional Portland cement.
