ABSTRACT
Acute gross hematuria is usually self-limiting.
Intractable, severe hematuria from the bladder may require treatment.
Invasive treatments should be utilized after failure of the simplest and least morbid approaches.
Finasteride is effective for treatment of persistent hematuria associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia.
