ABSTRACT
Significant advances in automation and robotization of open pit mining have been taking place recently. Some of these include sophisticated control and reporting systems, computerized equipment assignment and dispatch systems, digital orebody models and mine plans and, most importantly, communication interfaces between all the above. The paper reviews these developments, as well as the work that still remains to be done to facilitate full robotization of mining process.
