ABSTRACT

This chapter is concerned with the migrations that took our Homo sapiens ancestors out of Africa and into every region of the globe, save Antarctica. Human bones, stone tools, campfire remains, and other physical evidence help substantiate our claims, but the most valuable information is genetic. Our prehistorical journeys are recorded in our DNA. Modern man has been clever enough to coax the stories from the genetic code. The detailed story of these migrations is a book-length endeavor, and those books do already exist. My goal is in this chapter is to explain how the code-breaking magic was done and to acquaint the reader with some parts of the odyssey.
