ABSTRACT

Alcohol moderation has been called low-risk drinking, controlled drinking, and moderate drinking. The American Heart Association’s Guidelines recommend an average of no more than two standard drinks per day for men and no more than one standard drink/day for women. Most countries around the world agree that a low level of alcohol on a healthy adult carries minimal risks. Alcohol in Moderation compiled a worldwide list of Sensible Drinking Guidelines put forth by each country’s public health department of their government. Moderation Management is a behavioral change program and support group network for people who are concerned about their drinking and want to make positive lifestyle changes. Doctors examine their patients, order tests, and collect more information before they make a diagnosis and provide treatment. Behavioral health care providers need to individualize their recommendations and treatment.
