ABSTRACT
In discussing alcoholic brain damage, there are those syndromes which are more strictly neurological (in that they are predominantly characterized by physical signs and symptoms) and other syndromes which may be termed neuropsychiatric (in that they are predominantly characterized by cognitive, affective or personality change). The neuropsychiatric syndromes may, in turn, be subdivided into the acute/subacute and the chronic.
