ABSTRACT

In Chapter 12, Peter Titelman describes his effort to define himself in relationship with his father when his father had Alzheimer’s disease. The chapter also describes his sister’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis and the reaction in her nuclear family; the Alzheimer’s of his first cousin, who is no longer living; and anxiety that Titelman may end up with Alzheimer’s disease. The final section provides reflections on Alzheimer’s disease and ways that family members can relate to the affected person when that disease is present in the family.
