ABSTRACT
Operation " Dynamo " was an improvisation, in which the initiative of those taking part largely took the place of planning. Events on the Continent developed so swiftly and unexpectedly that lack of time prevented any but the most meagre preparation for what proved to be a far more extensive operation than was anticipated.
