ABSTRACT

Rub related phenomena are some of the most researched topics in rotordynamics and they are yet not fully comprehended. Thus, this work aims at studying the different outcomes possible for different configurations of a rotor system consisting of a simply-supported shaft with an off-centred disk. For this purpose, a continuous model is used, which takes into account the inertia and gyroscopic effects of both the shaft and the rigid disk. The governing partial differential equations are discretized by means of the modal expansion method. A finite element model is also presented and its results compared with the continuous model.
