ABSTRACT

Analytics dashboards are becoming the preferred method for effectively communicating success, failure, and trends in the post-intervention context. In this chapter, the authors present examples of three dashboard domains to help contextualize their application: measure performance, technology performance and quadruple aim. Measure performance dashboards are the most common type used by health systems across the nation. When performance dashboards are deployed in an operational setting, they may be used as a motivational tool and facilitate care gap closure to drive performance improvement. Interactive dashboard features allow users to dynamically filter, drill down, and provide additional details on demand through links and hover bubbles. The use of performance dashboards for early identification of patients with care gaps is an effective approach to improving performance scores. As automation is increasingly being used to deliver interventions, the performance of the technology should be considered for inclusion in performance dashboards.
