ABSTRACT

The most obvious result of victimization through trafficking is death. Luz Maria Cuadros of CRRFFS said that often 100 birds would come in who had recently been captured on the coast, but still they would all die. They also die during capture, when they are sent/shipped from their place of origin, during transport and when they arrive at their destination. The length of the journey is crucial. Tarantellas and turtles, when they arrive, often come in great numbers. The mortality rate is 80%–90%. The deaths continue during quarantine because of the injuries they have suffered.
