ABSTRACT

Null queries are queries that elicit a null answer from the database. In the context of fuzzy relational databases, obtaining approximate answers for null queries can enhance the user-friendliness of the system. Analogical reasoning utilizing fuzzy functional dependency to answer null queries on possibility-distribution-based relational database does not address the issue of redundancy. In this work, we present an approach to obtain approximate answers for null queries on similarity-relation-based fuzzy relational databases. Based on the concept of contexts on domain attributes, our approach is a generalization of the former model of analogy and provide the ability of handling the redundancy.
