ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the author attempts to show how Michel Foucault and Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari partly anticipated financialization. He explains how Foucault and Deleuze and Guattari criticized the notions of class politics and of revolutionary subject, which are central to the Marxian financialization literature. The author analyses the literature that draws on Deleuze and Guattari to study financialization. He analyses the Foucault's anticipitation of financialization, that is to say mainly his analysis of neoliberalism, through a qualitative engagement with in particular Security, Territory, Population and The Birth of Biopolitics. The author provides a literature review of the Deleuzo-Guattarian approaches to finance. According to Deleuze and Guattari, psychoanalysis is connected to the production of subjectivity in capitalist societies. Deleuze and Guattari therefore provide a radical critique of capitalism and of psychoanalysis in Anti-Oedipus. American neoliberalism provided an innovative conceptualization of labour through the notion of human capital.
